Do you have wallpaper in your house?
I recently read an article about how wallpaper is making a come back – it’s one of the biggest design trends for 2022. Buuuuut, I say it’s an acquired taste.
A few of the rooms in our house have wallpaper, and it was installed WELL. I actually remember my mom wallpapering the guest room (because it used to be mine growing up!) and many years later (won’t say how many…) that paper is still stuck to the walls and not going an-y-where.
Where to Start
After seeing ridiculous prices for wallpaper removal, and knowing it would take me months to remove myself (if I could even do it), we decided to paint over the wallpaper. I read online that it was best to apply paint in several light coats to keep the paper from bubbling.
Miraculously, I did not have any bubbling or peeling paper. A testament to the quality of the original installation. I chose a classic combination from Sherwin Williams: “Silver Strand” on top, and “Alabaster” on the bottom.
Our Entryway
Two years later we decided to start the painting process in our hallway. We aren’t completely finished – our stairwell must have 20ft walls – but we are about 80% there.
And guess what?! I have a video showing how I did it! I know the picture shows our dining room but, that’s because it just works better for my graphic. 😉 The IGTV is our hallway!

Having read this I thought it was very informative. I appreciate you spending some time and effort to put this content together. I once again find myself spending a lot of time both reading and leaving comments. But so what, it was still worthwhile!
