Ok, these little dressers weren’t actually trash, but they were in rough shape when they came to me, and they remind me of curbside picks I see on Instagram.
Per usual, my how-to process is documented in our YouTube channel, so check it out!
I originally thought I needed to do a lot of fancy things to make them more appealing, but after a year of not getting to those fancy ideas, I realized they actually just needed a “regular” flip with paint, top coat and new hardware. They didn’t need a ton of work – they were sturdy, but definitely needed some wood filler, sanding, new pulls, and new styling.
I tried new tools this time: a paint sponge! Check out the reel I posted on Instagram – I got so many comments on how smooth the paint went on, and it’s true, the paint application was very smooth! Of course I show this in more detail in our YouTube video.
I also used a paint sponge for the Clear Coat application. I had tried this technique before, but this time I saturated the sponge and kept it flat along the wood (not at an angle like before). I show this in the last quarter of the YouTube video and I can’t wait to try it again. It looks like I sprayed on this top coat; I’ve never seen such a smooth finish!
