This was one of my longest projects for two reasons – First, I acquired these tables from a friend in 2021 and although I did a little bit of work right away, they pretty much sat in my basement for over a year. I moved them around the room trying to make space, and finally I decided I wanted them out and it was time to get serious about refinishing them! The other reason for the long time table – I made 1,000,000 mistakes! More on that in my YouTube video so be sure to watch it so you can learn too!
All Lane furniture is very popular in the furniture refinishing world because the furniture is quality, solidly built and usually has some cool embellishments/patterns/etc. These tables are no exception, but in their original state they looked heavy (as in drab, not modern) and outdated. You can see they aren’t an exact match, but that’s ok, matchy matchy is out anyway!

You definitely want to watch the video because I share the whole story of these tables – good, bad and ugly! Check it out and see how I release the need for perfectionism – these look amazing in their finished state, but I can see the imperfections. But guess what – I’m not a machine, this is not my full time gig, I saved them from the landfill and I’m going to celebrate that!
If you struggle with perfectionism, or you think you have to know it all to successfully revamp some furniture, I urge you to rethink. I could have given up a million times, but I learned from my mistakes, pivoted and/or tried again until I was happy with the result. It was a less than perfect process but in the end the tables are gorgeous and I know they will make someone very happy!
