This is a “dry sink” which is a piece of furniture that was used before indoor plumbing. It would have had a wash basin and pitcher for washing dishes, body, etc. 🤯
.
Recently it’s stored Lego creations 😅 It’s been in my family for about 50 years and shows every bit of those years - plus the 120 or so before that!!
.
Not sure what I want, but I’m going to start by carefully taking off the old finish and go from there.

The biggest compliment I could have hoped for: my tween saying “Mom the drawers look so much better. Great job.” 🥹

I mean, wow. Look at this transformation! Special thanks to my friend who graciously gave me this dresser years ago. I saw the potential. After two rounds of @citristrip on the top, sides and drawers (each!) I got the old finish off. And then my favorite gel stain from @lillymoonpaintofficial - that stuff is amazing and sooo easy to work with.

New handles give it that updated look without losing its 100 year old charm. ☺️

In the middle of a dresser project, I decided these cabinets needed a new look. I looked at new doors and drawers online and they are $$$! 🤯 So I decided to paint them bc why not?!

I can see why people spray cabinets though 😅 Using leftover supplies means this update cost nothing but my time ⏰

The trick to painting laminate is to PRIME FIRST! Don’t skip this step!

Maybe I heard this somewhere on a podcast or someone’s reel, but recently this fact really hit me: FEAR is the reason we have trouble letting go of unused stuff. It’s either a fear of letting go of the past (enter sentimental items), or a fear of the future (the what-if items).
.
And that’s it. If you can acknowledge and work through those fears, you will be able to remove what you don’t need. In the past year I have done a lot of work re-homing a lot of excess possessions I was holding onto. Here to encourage and cheer you on if you want to do the same. 🫶🏻

First project in a year. So many reasons why I took a break from the creative process….mostly because it was feeling a lot more process than creative.

After emptying the workshop and giving that space to tweens, ignoring the website, blog and YouTube channel, and shoving everything down into the basement, both physically and mentally, I’ve emerged.

I’ve minimized.

I’ve made space.

I’m not one of those people! I fumble around and try all the pads and grits and things until I get the result I want. You’d think I could formulate a plan but I never do 😅

What I can share is, as someone short on time, I’ve always appreciated my SurfPrep and loved it since I bought it 3 years ago.
.
And yes…if you’ve been following since the beginning, I’m no longer set up in our old dining room. That room is now the tween gaming room.
.
Over the past year I’ve worked hard to minimize A LOT of extra possessions and now there is space in our storage room/workout space. It’s not great down here 🥲 but it’s ok. Painting the sink helped.

Replacing this 1979 utility sink has been on my wish list. It’s low on the priority list, but one day I decided to take a brush to it with leftover paint.

What’s it like to plan a trip a year in advance?

All the research. The saving and sacrificing. The worrying before the trip. Anticipation of a 9 hour flight. The endless to-do lists before leaving.

And then. You find yourself below the equator, looking at the southern sky, experiencing a different culture, taking all the pictures.

We treated this trip like a once in a lifetime experience, but after going, we hope we can visit again! So thankful we could experience Buenos Aires as a family!
